Converse 1HUND(RED)

I was chosen as one of 100 artists and designers to design a Chuck Taylor All Star for 1HUND(RED) – Converse’s contribution to the (PRODUCT) RED campaign.

I re-arranged all the countries in the world so that Ethiopia becomes a US state, Kenya is part of Brazil and Angola lies of the coast of Argentina. Discarding traditional geography creates new associations in which the first world and African countries become neighbors.

The new map is drawn as a paint-by-numbers canvas that the wearer is invited to complete using the color key printed on the tongue. The completed shoe creates a quasi-camouflage pattern where African countries appear in red.
